August 30th, 2009I did some artwork for a Scion character I rolled up for an online game. I’ve never gamed via online chat before, so we’ll see how it goes. But at least I got some good artwork out of it. Check it out.
I included another version of the picture below. Here’s the character write-up.
Katerina’s mother, Cordelia, was a fine young woman in a small village in the British Isles. Among all the young girls of the town, she was counted as the fairest, and the day approached when she would be married to an upstanding young man… but that day never came.
Her village was sacked by bandits. A terrible man in a strange helmet impaled her father on an iron sword. And though she wept at the sight, the murderer was not yet done, for the man then came and grabbed her, and stripped off her clothes and took her to bed.
Afterwards, she and the other survivors moved away, but Cordelia soon discovered that she was carrying the child of her father’s murderer. Destitute and penniless, she gave birth to Katerina, but try as she might, Cordelia could not hate the child.
Katerina was brought up on the streets of Hamtun, a large town in the south central British Isles. Despite its hardships, Cordelia cared for her daughter well, until she finally passed away to the pox. Katerina was sixteen.
In the years since, Katerina grew up into a woman of stunning beauty and cunning. A student of the school of hard knocks, she knows the goings on of all places, from farmer’s hovel, to royal chambers, as she lived in all at one pont or another. At one point she’d married a young merchant, but, alas, he would be killed by his partner and Katerina only managed to escape through cleverness and wit.
She is strong willed and independent, who searches for a better future for herself, be it as the mistress of a King, or the head of a merchant’s guild.
Norell
August 12th, 2009When the Doctor’s player told me he wanted his character to be a ferryman of lost souls, I began work on this NPC. Before he could reach his goal, his character would have to learn how to judge the Dead and how to get them to their Final Destination. The Doctor’s mother, Hel, ask Odin to send a Valkyrie to her son, so that he might be instructed in the fine art of telling fates.
It just so happened that Odin’s daughter, Tanya, had been put in charge of the Valkyries. The Shield Maidens were cautious about his appointment of the inexperience Scion and after much deliberation, they sent Norell, Captain of the Valkyries, to present their case.
Odin was furious. And as he stormed up and down the Halls of Valhalla, trying to think of a suitable punishment for Norell, Hel’s messenger reached him.
And so it was that Norell, Captain of Valkyries, was sent down to Earth, to serve as a guide and caretaker for the Doctor. In this picture she is wearing the silk dress they procured for her in China, and her expression can tell you how she feels about wearing it.
